The randomized controlled studyin cluded 246 child renaged 7 to 12 years (125 male, 121 female; meanage 9,41±1,71 years), who gave blood samples in Antalya Manavgat Public Hospital Pediatric Blood-Letting Unit between 18.01.2019-28.03.2019. The children were separated in to two groups: 123 children in the distraction group (60 male, 63 female; meanage 9,39±1,70 years) and 123 children in the control group (65 male, 58 female; meanage 9,43±1,73 years). The data were collectedvia the Patient Introduction Form and Patient Follow-up Form before, duringand after the blood letting procedure. Pain and anxiety levels of the patients were evaluatedusing the Revised Face Pain Scale (FPS-R)– Painand Child's Fear Scale (CFS), respectively. It was found that pain and anxiety levels were lower in the distraction group (FPS-R=1,65±1,33; CFS=1,73±1,07), compared to the control group (FPS-R=3,09±1,57; CFS=2,86±1,07). There was a signifi cant difference in the decrease of both pain and anxiety levels in the distraction group (p=0,000 and p=0,000, respectively).
