Evaluation of serum vitamin D, ichemia modified albumin and oxidative stress levels in children according to body mass index

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate serum vitamin D, ischemia modified albumin (IMA) and oxidative stress levels in children according to body mass index. Children who applied to Gaziantep University Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism Polyclinic with obesity or any other complaint, who were found to be obese in the examinations and physical examinations, or whose body mass index was under the obesity criteria were included in the study. A total of 120 children were evaluated within the scope of the study, of which 77 (64.2%) were girls and 43 (35.8%) were boys. As a result of the study, the difference in insulin, glucose, HOMA IR, triglyceride, total cholesterol, ALT and AST levels was found between normal weight children and overweight, obese and morbid obese ones, the difference in LDL was between morbid obese and normal weight children, and the difference in HDL was were found to be between those who are obese, those with normal weight and those who are overweight. At the same time, it was determined that there was a difference in Triglyceride and LDL levels between the obese and the morbid obese ones, and the triglyceride levels of the obese patients were significantly higher than the morbid obese ones, and the LDL level was significantly lower. It was observed that the TAS level was significantly higher in normal weight patients, the difference in TOS level was between morbid obese and normal and overweight, and TOS level was significantly higher in morbid obese patients. OSI and aryltesterase levels were also found to be significantly higher in obese and morbid obese subjects compared to normal and overweight subjects. As a result of our study, it was observed that the level of IMA was significantly higher in those with normal weight. Vitamin D levels were found to be significantly lower in morbid obese and obese patients compared to overweight and normal weight patients.
