Examination of the children's coping strategies with poverty in the context of new childhood sociology: Istanbul case

Poverty have studied as one of the significant social problems of adult world in sociology also affect adversely children's daily life. However, it has been seen neglected this reality by the end of 1980s when poverty literature examined. Since the late1980s with leading to increase the neoliberal policy and expansion of poverty at global extent; the effects of approval of the 1989 United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Children in international agenda and paradigm shift in social theory -by developing interpretive approaches and individual theories- children has been regarded as social category and unit of analysis. Thus children have begun to be included poverty statistics or to be investigated children's poverty distinctively; taken in consideration in their point of view by questioning views and experiences of children on poverty qualitative researches. This study focus on how children cope with poverty in daily life with reference to subjects of social problems. The aim of this study which has been adopted phemenological perspective reveals what are the strategies and motives that children develop while coping with poverty; in a which condition they share same strategies and motive or differ from each other. Besides the other aim is to comprehend which agency kind is displayed by children in the 'simplicity' of daily life while coping with poverty. This study will be guiding on understanding field of the problem and creating solution for the problem by investigating the child poverty in the basis of their point of view.
