Abstract (EN)

The aim of the study is to examine the mediating role of intolerance of uncertainty in the relationship between childhood traumas and emotional eating. The study sample consists of 408 participants, 245 female and 163 male, between the ages of 18-56 living in Turkey. The Sociodemographic and Personal Information Form, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-28), Turkish Emotional Eating Scale (EES) and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS-12) were used in the data collection process. The analysis of the data collected in the online environment was carried out using the IBM SPSS 27 program. While evaluating the research data, descriptive statistical methods, Pearson Correlation Test for scale scores, Independent Samples t-Test for comparison of scale scores according to variables, Mann Whitney U Test and Kruskal Wallis-H Test were used. The mediating role in the relationship between variables was carried out by structural equation modeling with the Amos 24 program. According to the results of the research; it was concluded that the total, direct and indirect effects between the variables were significant. It was found that there was a significant difference in the research variables according to gender, marital status, education level and body mass index (BMI).
