Forensic medical assessment; sexual attacks of childhood and adulthood

Aim; This is a retrospective study aimed to discuss the sociodemographic data, physical and anogenital examination macroscopic findings, consultation and laboratory results of patients admitted to Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine between December 2010 and June 2011 in the light of literature. Method: The applicants with a claim of sexual assault to Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2017, sociodemographic data, external physics, genital and / or anal region macroscopic examination findings, consultation and laboratory results data were collected by the data form and compared in childhood and adulthood groups. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 19.0 software. Findings: The 156 cases that include to this study were determined as a small number of males, mostly females and children, mostly single, with a core family structure. It was found that the assailants were all of male, generally the victim's "lover" and known by the victim and that sexual violence incidents occurred mostly outside the victim's home. Results: Victims of sexual violence should be assessed by specialists trained in the field, together with the assistant health personnel, in centers equipped with equipment, including sampling, photography and necessary consultations, in the structured appropriate examination environment.
