Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of physical violence during childhood on the learned resourcefulness and anger management levels among physically abused and nonabused adolescents. The sample of this study consists of 360 randomly chosen students including 180 female and 180 male students studying 9., 10. and 11. grades at Bakırköy High School. ''Rosenbaum's learned resourcefulness questionary'', ''Continuous Anger and Anger Statement Questionary'' and ''Personal Information Paper'' were used for data gathering in the present study.Statistical analysis of research data revealed concurrent results with the hypotheses of the research. Adolescents who had been physically abused during childhood had more difficulties on anger management than nonabused adolescents. Adolescents who had been physically abused during childhood had lower learned resourcefulness than nonabused adolescents which is an efficient technique to cope with life. Additionally, physically abused female adolescents had higher levels of anger management and learned resourcefulness than physically abused male adolescents. This research shows that; children who had been abused physically during childhood were faced with negative consequences by means of personality development during adolescence ant that, this situation is a risky process along with the identity crisis process.
