Abstract (EN)
Codex Cumanicus is a work written in Cuman-Kipchak Turkish in the north of the Black Sea at the end of the 13th century. Written by Italian merchants and German priests, the work contains the vocabulary of the spoken language of the Kipchak Turkish of that period. There are remarkable similarities between the vocabulary of the work and the vocabulary of modern Kipchak dialects. In our study, we will try to reveal the vocabulary relationship between Codex Cumanicus, one of the important works of the historical Kipchak Turkish, and Karachay-Balkar Turkish, one of the modern Kipchak dialects. In our study, 'Codex Cumanicus', the work published by Mustafa Argunşah and Galip Güner in 2015, was taken as the main source and for the vocabulary of Karachay-Balkar Turkish, firstly Ufuk Tavkul's 'Karachay-Balkar Turkish Dictionary' and Yılmaz Nevruz's 'Annotated Big Dictionary from Karachay-Balkar Turkish to Turkey Turkish' were taken as basis. In cases where these two dictionaries were insufficient, support was obtained from other sources. Combining two directories in Codex Cumanicus into a single directory and page numbers are given in parentheses. The list has been made by taking into account the meaning changes in the words.
