Due to its geomorphic features, Turkey has been exposed to natural disasters from past to present. Therefore, in the selection of residential areas and in the planning of existing residential areas, the determination of safe and risky areas in terms of soil properties and the construction of structures are of great importance. Many methods and techniques are used today to determine the engineering properties of the soil and to detect the variation of the soil profile throughout the building area. The reason why one of the prominent among these techniques is Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is that it has features such as convenience, cost, time, micro and macro zoning.In this thesis, the engineering properties of the soil in the study area were analyzed with the Global Mapper (20.1) program working with the Geographical Information Systems method, using the data obtained as a result of geophysical and drilling studies carried out by different soil engineering firms in the city center of Batman Province. In the program, various maps reflecting the geotechnical features of the study area were prepared by creating a database. In this context; Different maps related to soil bearing capacity (qt), Standard Penetration Test (SPT), shear wave velocity (VS30), pressuremeter test (PMT), soil dominant vibration period (T0) and soil class were created.According to the maps created, the investigated soil was generally determined as medium plasticity, low plasticity, high plasticity, semi-stiff, stiff and inactive clays. According to the results obtained from the field and laboratory experiments, the soil bearing capacity, qt, in the study area varies between 2.83-9.46 kg/cm2. SPT-N values vary between 10.8-61 for a depth of 20-30 meters. Shear Wave Velocity (VS30) values are between 167-703 m/s and the net limit pressure of the soil varies between 4.9-16.03 values. In addition, the Soil Dominant Period, T0 value of the study area is between 0.29-0.77 s. At the end of the study, the obtained values were presented and the necessary suggestions were made for better soil investigations.
