Abstract (EN)

Using instructional materials in education is very important in terms of being more meaningful and effective of education-teaching. For this reason, it is required to make use of instructional materials for better understanding, explaining and comprehending of subjects in education and teaching.Thematic maps, which are created on a topographic base with a focus on a specific topic, are one of the most important materials in geography teaching. This research is done in order to exhibit views of geography teachers on thematic maps, in accordance with geography lesson curriculum. For this purpose, the survey method is used to determine the views of geography teachers working in secondary schools on thematic maps.According to the findings of this study, it is determined that; despite of the positive approach of geography teachers for using thematic maps, a significant majority of them are not capable of producing and using the thematic maps and they need them mostly in the field of "Spatial Synthesis Turkey? learning.Keywords: Geography education, visuality, map, thematic map.
