Abstract (EN)

Multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) is a method used in near surface geophysics within the last two decades. The method is used to determine the S wave velocity in many areas of near surface researches. The method is applied in geophysical and geotechnical problems such as soil characterization of buildings as bridge, tunnel, dam, wind turbine, structure etc., rock-soil analysis, soil liquefaction potential, underground void detection, normal and reverse fault detection. Within the scope of this thesis, the field studies were carried out using MASW technique in three different regions of Turkey. First study is aim to find the void structure of the tunnel and the fill-ground separation. The goal of second study is to determine the geotechnical parameters via seismic velocities (P and S) in a zone with low velocity. The final study aimed to define the soil-rock separation and the geotechnical parameters using seismic velocities. As a result, the void and fill-ground separation were successfully determined by MASW method. In addition, problems in different locations where different geological units are located were successfully determined. The feature to determine S wave velocity of the MASW method was deduced contributing to determine problems in terms of geophysics and to interpret of the subsurface in terms of geotechnics.
