Abstract (EN)

There are active fault lines in the geography where our country is located. As a result, some areas pose a significant earthquake hazard. One of the goals of civil engineering is to reduce the destructive effects of earthquakes. Studies have revealed that merely prioritizing the structure and performing calculations, without paying attention to the soil, is insufficient in earthquake preparedness. While designing the building, it has been understood that the design should be made by considering all the details of the soil as well as all the details of the building. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the number of basement floors on soil-structure interaction by analyzing buildings with different numbers of floors and basements under the influence of earthquakes. SAP2000 and PLAXIS 2D programs were employed to generate models and conduct analyses. 9 distinct models were generated by changing the number of basements in buildings with 4, 7, and 10 floors, ranging from 1 to 3 basements. The models generated were analyzed for the impacts of four distinct earthquakes, revealing both the horizontal and vertical displacements of the structures. A total of 72 analyzes were made using 2 different programs, 9 models, and 4 different earthquake acceleration records. The analysis revealed the impact of increasing the number of basements on both horizontal and vertical displacements. Additionally, an evaluated was made between the results obtained from the two programs.
