An application on scholarship selection with multi criteria decision making techniques

People have to make a choice almost every matters in every moment and every field of the life. This making choice which is expressed as a decision making has become more complex and more difficult because today alternatives are more available than ever before. When making the right decisions which cause the significant effects in human life, deliver decision makers to their aims and desires; whereas, when the decisions are made false, people are deprived of their aims and desires. Therefore, the notion of decision making becomes important part of life. For this reason, multi criteria decision making methods are developed to help decision makers find a solution generally in the face of criteria which have more than one quantitative and qualitative decision or purpose. These methods are means to make a best choice among the choices have more than one criteria and applied at the same time. In this dissertation, multi criteria decision making methods are analyzed in a detail way by mentioning the notion of making decision. In implementation, the choices of scholarship holder are tackled. By determining criteria which effects the choices of scholarship are weighted and by using TOPSIS and VIKOR, which are the part of multi criteria decision making methods, the ranking of students who receive education from Akdeniz University, apply food scholar in 2017-2018 academic year, are obtained.
