ABSTRACTThe Effect of Lecturing Model Based on Multiple Intelligence Theory on the 7th grade MusicStudents? Level of Music Learning in Primary SchoolZeki NACAKCIGüzel Sanatlar Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı Müzik Öğretmenliği Bilim DalıProf. Dr. Ali UÇAN - Prof. Dr. Ayşegül ATAMANKasım-2006The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the lecturing model which isprepared for the 7th grade primary school music students based on Multiple IntelligenceTheory, on the musical learning levels of the students. For this reason a pattern of an experimental pre-test- final-test control group was used.To determine the schools used in the study the number of students in class, socio-cultural andeconomical conditions were taken into account. Accordingly the study was applied to the 200students of Kamil Ocak Primary School in Keçiören-Ankara, Barbaros Primary School andDemetevler Emin Sağlamer Primary Schools of Ministery of Education during the first half ofthe 2005-2006 education term.In the research a 2 months study was held following the subjects and target behavioursof the III. level 7th grade Music Lesson `?Rhytm, Melody and Measures?? of the ?PrimaryEducation Music Courses Teaching Programmes?? During the study the teaching methodbased on Multiple Intelligence Theory was applied to the experiment group while applyingthe conventional teaching methods to the control group. In the research, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor behaviours of the unit wereevaluated by measuring them separately. As a means of collecting data to determine theconventional methods of music teachers ?Configured Interview Form?, to evaluate cognitivebehaviours ?Cognitive Success Test?, to determine psychomotor behaviours ?PsychomotorBehaviour Observation Method?, to determine affective behaviours ?Affective BehaviourAttitude Criteriai? and, to receive student responses ?Form of Opinions? were used. In orderto analyse the collected data, frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic means ( Χ ), for thecomplicated measurements Anova with two-factors, Mann Whitney U and student statisticalanalytical techniques were used. For the statistical significance level .05 significance levelwas chosen. In the research it was found that the teaching model based on multiple intelligencetheory was much more affective than the conventional teaching methods in teaching cognitivebehaviours for the unit `?Rhytm, Melody and Measure in Music??, in teaching psychomotorbehaviours it was found to be affective partially and for the affective bahaviours it was notfound to be more affective.According to the findings the teaching model based on multiple intelligence theoryused in the 7th grade primary school students in music lessons was found to be especiallymore beneficial in teaching cognitive behaviours.
