Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to examine the success in volleyball and handball units physical education lessons performed by means of teaching method based on multiple intelligence theory on 6th class students. The study is an experimental one. The model of the study consisted of pre test-post test model with experiment and control groups. The context of the study consisted of 6th class students attending to three primary schools determined as their development levels in 2008 and 2009 teaching-learning year in Erzurum. The sampling of the study consisted of the students of 6A, 6B, 6C classrooms receiving training in these primary schools. The study was completed with total 192 students, 95 of them experiment and 97 of them control groups. The application of pre test was applied to experiment and control groups before starting handball and volleyball units of physical education lesson with the aim of measuring psycho-motor, cognitive and perceptive levels about the subjects which will be taught. The courses were performed for experiment groups by means teaching method based on multiple intelligence theory in the way of 40-minute-lesson for 10 weeks. In addition, at the same period, the courses were performed for control groups by means of traditional teaching method in the way of 40-minute-lesson for 10 weeks. At the end of 10 weeks, the test were repeated with the aim of measuring psycho-motor, cognitive and perceptive levels of control and experiment groups. In the collection of the data, at onset and the end of each unit with the aim of measuring cognitive fields learnings, multiple choice test for which the views of the experts are taken and prepared by expert researcher, and observation forms in order to measure psycho-motor skills were used. In order to measure the attitudes in perceptional field, Behaviour Scale in Body Training and Sport was used (BSBTS).In the assessment of the data, we used SPSS 10,0 for windows packet and persentage, variance analysis and t test in independent groups were used. The level of significance in statistical test was taken as 0,05.When psycho-motor, cognitive and perceptive field levels of control groups, in which the courses were performed by means of traditional teaching method, and the experiment group, in which the courses were performed by means of teaching method based on multiple intelligence theory, were compered to, it was found out that there is significant distinction in favour of experiment group in both units (volleyball-handball) in cognitive and perceptive field (p<0,05). In psycho-motor field there was statistically significant distinction in favour of experiment group in psycho-motor field (p<0,05).
