Abstract (EN)

The scope of this paper aimed to compare near and far-fault ground motions effects on dynamic response and seismic damage of a historical stone masonry mosque including soil-structure-interaction (SSI). For this purpose, near-fault ground motions are selected to represent its own characteristics as number of 5 earthquake datas. Far-fault ground motion records obtained at the same site conditions. 125 years old Gaziantep Kurtulus Mosque, which is selected for numerical analysis, is subject to set of near and far-fault ground motion records. A detailed 3D-FE solid model were used for fixed base and SSI to evaluate seismic responses of mosque by time-history analyses. In SSI analyses, 2 boundary type is used for substructure which are elementary (pinned) and viscous (dashpot) boundaries. Results are compared in amplitudes (acceleration, velocity and displacement), spectral effects (resonance) and stress distrubutions (tensile and compressive stress). It is found from results that far-fault motions are important as near-fault motions. As for compared for fixed base and SSI, it is concluded that the influences of SSI increases responses (amplitude, spectral effect, stress) and boundary type becomes prominent on the responses of mosque. Overall from the comparisons, the study indicates that the far-fault motion could be employed together with near-fault motions for assessment of such historical mosques for further considerations.
