A study on the reliability of Youtube videos during the process of COVID-19 pandemic

Considering evolving social media platform statistics, not only more and more users are being reached every other day but also time spent per user on social media is increasing in line with multiplying number of new users. These novel social media means that have already become indispensable part of daily routine is enabling users with quenching their curiosity or getting respond for to their questions with almost no effort being exerted. Scope of this thesis covers whether Youtube platform is sufficiently beneficial in providing users with Covid-19 related information throughout the pandemic, validity and reliability of the information in video content, users standpoint pertaining the fact that well-know popular individuals are taking part in video content related to pandemic. It is aimed to determine how variety of content in Youtube videos is affecting reliability of information acquired. Upon literature review, the research shaped according to phenomenological research designs. According to the purposive sampling method, 10 participants were specified and interviewed face to face and 8 separate questions were asked and the participants point of views pertaining reliability of the video content related to Covid-19 on YouTube were subjected to content analysis via inductive reasoning approach.
