Analyzing the factors affecting the work life quality and work-related stress of hospital workers during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract (EN)
Introduction: The COVID-19 Pandemic has affected many areas around the world, especially the health systems of countries. Hospital workers are among those most affected by this process. Objective: In this study, it was aimed to examine the quality of work life and work-related stress levels of hospital workers and the factors affecting them during the COVID-19 Pandemic period. Method: The research is cross-sectional, descriptive type. The study was conducted in a university hospital with 502 hospital employees who volunteered to participate in the study. The data were collected using the "Descriptive Information Form", "Work-Related Tension Scale" and "Health Personnel Quality of Work Life Scale". In the evaluation of the data, frequency tables were created using SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 24) program, Independent Sample-t test, ANOVA, Tamhane, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H and correlation analyzes were performed. Results: Participants' work life quality and work-related stress levels were determined by gender, age, having children, education level, occupation, change in sleep duration and quality during COVID-19, need for psychological support during COVID-19, preference for leaving the profession, professional publications It was determined that variables such as following up, working unit, working time in the institution, working with a patient diagnosed/contacted with COVID-19, self-isolation after working hours, increased working time and intensity, and having difficulty due to using personal protective equipment (p<0.005). A significant negative correlation was found between health personnel work life quality scale and work-related tension scale scores (r=-0.635, p=0.000). Conclusion: The effects of demographic characteristics and many factors related to working life were determined on the quality of work life and work-related tension levels of hospital employees working during the pandemic process.
