The impact of the changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic on accommodation establishments in terms of guests

In a study on the Impact of the Changes Caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic on Accommodation Establishments in Terms of Guests, the COVID–19 pandemic has affected the whole world in a short period of time and stopped the normal lives of countries. People have become unable to lead their normal lives. With the emergence of the virus, it has caused a lot of people to lose their lives, permanent traumas and millions of people to get sick. This emerging pandemic has directly and negatively affected many sectors. One of these sectors is accommodation enterprises connected to the tourism sector. The effects of the crisis of the Covid - 19 pandemic have been felt strongly in accommodation establishments and have caused changes in terms of guests. The restrictions applied for a certain period of time had a negative impact on people in particular and made the guests who came to the hotel worried about their future.The main purpose of the research is to obtain information about the expectations of accommodation establishments before the COVID – 19 pandemic, during the pandemic process, at the end of the pandemic and about the strategies of future accommodation establishments. In the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted using qualitative research method. Interviews were conducted with the middle level managers of accommodation establishments located in Istanbul and providing different types of services in different locations.The diversity of the data obtained as a result of the interviews has caused differences in the perspective on the subject. To the accommodation establishments of age ranges where the change happens from your guests throughout the whole process, from the restrictions that apply to the countries they live in the nationalities of the tourists influencers, guests in the accommodation establishments of the goals are different, depending on the purpose of arrival from the accommodation establishments of all of the guests concluded that there are different expectations. The fact that these differences are directly related to the Covid – Dec 19 pandemic is among the results of the research. It is thought that this research contains useful information for the future planning of accommodation establishments and will be useful. It is expected to contribute in terms of seeing the points that need to be considered in the face of crises.
