Abstract (EN)

COVID-19 emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. It was declared a global pandemic by WHO on March 11, 2020. The problems brought by the nursing profession as a result of fighting at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 all over the world have come to the fore.In this thesis study, the effect of the COVID-19 process on healthcare workers was examined, the working conditions and motivation levels of nurses were examined, and it was aimed to examine whether the wage-based performance system contributed to the performance of the employees in the COVID-19 process, which is the biggest discussion topic. It is a very important study in terms of the fight of all countries against the COVID-19 epidemic and the criticism of the performance-based remuneration system, which is a current issue in this process, by healthcare professionals. Relational screening model was used in this study. The dependent variable of the study is the remuneration policies of nurses during the covid-19 process, and the independent variables are gender, age, education level, unit of work, time in the profession, working time in the institution and job performance. The universe of this research consists of training and research hospitals in Istanbul. S.B.Ü Istanbul Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital, which was selected by random (cluster) sampling method among the hospitals in question, constitutes the sample of the study. All 311 nurses were reached. Nurses voluntarily participated in the study. In the research, a personal information form, a questionnaire and two scales were used as data collection tools. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using the SPSS for Windows 25.0 statistical package program. Independent group t-test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between two independent groups, and One Way Anova was used to compare quantitative continuous data between more than two independent groups. After the Anova test, the Gabriel and Scheffe test, one of the post-hoc tests, was used to determine which group caused the difference. In this study, the level of significance was determined as .05. It was determined that there was a significant and positive relationship between nurses' perceptions of the performance-based wage system and all sub-dimensions of the performance appraisal scale.
