An Investigation of ginning machines-theoretical approach

Cotton production varies by year. However, the request of cotton is an important point in the market The fiber of cotton is row material in textile industry as production from yarn to fabric. The large amount of the produced cotton is used in textile industry both in and out of Türkiye. A small amount of cotton is consumed for personel purposes for house demands and chemical industries, and etc. Ginning, which is a first step of cotton in textile industry, is very important for further products. However, there are a few modem ginning plants in our country and most of these plants were founded without good engineering design. In this study, ginning process and the fundemantal machinery units have been worked out. Saw-Gin and Roller-Gin systems are the two well known types of ginning units. The ginning process shows similarity in the both systems until the seed- separation phase. While cotton fiber seperation in Saw-gin unit is performed by saws and saw-ribs, in Roller-Gin unit the operation is done by knife and roll. As Saw-Gin systems have a complicated structure, they have been studied in separete section. Seperator and cleaner sections of Saw-Gin system are important point in ginning process. Therefore, two models utilized for the analysis. In separator sections, the cotton flow, and in cleaner section the force which affects on the cotton were computed and determined. In addition to these studies, the dynamic behaviour of the seperator section was examined. In addition to these studies, general features and information on the textile fibres, and the cotton classifed with respect to fibre properties and the general features of cotton fibre are submitted.
