Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out in the experimental field of Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute with 4 replications according to the randomized plots experimental design to investigate the suitability of second crop cotton cultivation under Cukurova ecological conditions using 13 different cotton varieties. The mean values of seed cotton yields varied between 327.5 and 484.75 kg/da for the varieties. The highest seed cotton yields among the varieties was obtained from Nihal variety with 484.75 kg/da, followed by ADN 701 and Öner 513 varieties. The highest average ginning yield was obtained from Nihal variety, the longest fiber length (mm) was obtained from Lima variety and the highest fiber breaking strength (g/tex) was obtained from Türkoğlu variety. In Çukurova conditions, Nihal, ADN 701 and Öner 513 varieties can be preferred in second crop cotton cultivation, respectively. In addition, it is revealed that the study results are for a single year and the results need to be supported with studies to be carried out in different locations and years.
