Özet (EN)

In this study, the direct energy (electricity + Diesel) consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to egg poultry farming in the Adana province were determined. The energy consumption and GHG emissions were evaluated characterizing winter and summer conditions based on the values of electricity, Diesel fuel, and water consumption in January and July. In the facility, a total of 18,491.54 MJ of energy was consumed in January, with 14,040 MJ of electricity and 4,451.54 MJ from Diesel. In July, a total of 40,936.86 MJ of energy was consumed, with 29,808 MJ of electricity and 11,128.86 MJ from Diesel. During summer conditions, more than twice the amount of electricity and Diesel fuel was consumed compared to winter conditions (January) due to the cooling requirements of the poultry houses. For the production of 1 kg of eggs in January and July, a total of 0.39 MJ and 0.9292 MJ of energy were consumed, respectively. The carbon footprint of direct energy consumption for egg production in January and July was determined as 0.0433 kgCO2- eq/kg and 0.1017 kgCO2-eq/kg, respectively. The carbon footprint related to water consumption for egg production in January and July was determined as 0.0013 kgCO2-eq/kg and 0.0015 kgCO2-eq/kg, respectively.
