Prof. Dr. Nuray ŞAHİNLERThe aim of this study was to examine a new hive type which can be moreprofitable for beekeeping by increasing colony development and preventing colonylost which was occured during the move and spent the winter of colonies. For thisaim statistical design of the study was builded on factorial rondomized block design(2x3x7). First factor of this study was formed by control and experimantal hive.Three different colony power (3, 4 and 5 bee frame) was used as second factor with 7replicates within each hive type. Sister Italian crosbreed (Apis mellifera ligustica)queen bees with same age and same originated colony were used in all colonies.Acording to the results, it was observed that both the lost of experimentalhive was lower during the spent of the winter and three was no lost of the coloniesduring the move.Keywords: Apis mellifera, hive, spent of the winter, colony development, migrotarybeekeeping.II
