Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to investigate the yield and yield component of grain amaranth genotypes under the Mediterranean climate conditions in the Adana. Field experiment was conducted during 2010 growing season under the rainfed and irrigated conditions.Five grain amaranth genotypes ?R158?, ?Golden?, ?Popping?, ?Burgundy? ve ?Red Garnet? were used in this study. Fertilizers were applied before sowing as a compozed fertilizer (15-15-15) at the rate of 50 kg ha-1 N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively. The plot consisted of six rows, 0.70 m apart, each of 6 m in lenght. Seed were sown (21th April 2010) by hand. After seed establishment, plant density in the rows were arranged 0.2 m.Grain amaranth genotypes were drasticaly affected by the rainfed condition (drought) compare with irrigated conditions. Grain yield, biomass and harvest index values decreased 56%, 43% and 20% respectively by the rainfed conditions. Positive correlations were recorded between grain yield and grain weight, biological yield, harvest index, inflorescence weight, stem weight and stem diameter but negative correlations were occoured between grain yield and specific leaf weight under rainfed conditions.
