The effect of nitrogen fertilization on yield and yield parameters of feed turnip (Brassica rapa L.) under Çukurova conditions

This research was conducted research and implementation area of University of Çukurova Faculty of Agriculture Department of Field Crops in order to investigate the effects of different nitrogen doses (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 kg/da) on the forage yield and yield parameters of the forage turnip in accordance with the randomized block trial design with 3 replications during the 2022 - 2023 growing season. According to the data obtained from the research, the highest fresh leaf yield (5337 kg/da), fresh tuber yield (5283 kg/da), total fresh leaf and tuber yield (10537 kg/da) and tuber dry matter yield (414.3 kg/da) values were obtained from 20 kg/da nitrogen dose. In the study, nitrogen doses did not have a statistically significant effect on fresh tuber yield, tuber dry matter rate, tuber dry matter yield and fresh leaf dry matter rate. These results show that a nitrogen dose of 20 kg/da is suitable for the sustainable forage production from forage turnip plants under Çukurova conditions.
