Determination of agronomical and technological characteristics of bread wheat genotype in upland and lowland condition of Çukurova

Prof. Dr. Hakan ÖZKANThis study it was used 23 bread wheat varieties and lines which is improved inUniversity of Cukurova Agricultural Faculty, Fields Crop department, in order to determinemorphological and technological features under lowland and upland condition. Theexperiment was conducted in 2004-2005 cultivation season, with two locations in lowlandand upland condition, with randomized complete design with 3 replication.According to results, the lines of `W 462//Vee//KOEL, BHRIKUTI and PUNJAB 96were superior to other genotypes for morphological traits. When genotypes were evaluatedfor technological traits, the lines of `CHOIX/STAR/CNO 79/SERİ, RABE/2*MO88,CHOIX/STAR/3/HE 1/3* CNO 79 and CROC 1/AE.SQUARROSA? had higher values thanother genotypes.The genotypes had higher values at upland condition than lowland condition forplant number (m2), stem number (m2), spike number (m2), grain yield, plant height, 1000grain weight, test weight, sedimentation, grain weight and grain hardness. However thegenotypes had higher values at lowland condition than upland condition for spike length,spikelet number, grain number per spike, spike grain yield, earliness, wet and dry gluten.There was no significant difference between lowland and upland location for protein content,grain water content and ash content.Key Words: bread wheat, genotype, lowland, upland.
