A study on determining yield and yield components on some local genotypes of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) collected from Çukurova and Middle Anatolian regions

This research was conducted to determine yield and yield components on some local genotypes of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) collected from Çukurova and Middle Anatolian Regions during growing seasons of 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 in Çukurova University, Faculty of Agriculture, Field Crops Department experimental area. In this research, 2 chickpea cultivars (İnci, İzmir-92) and 43 chickpea local genotypes were used as a research material.In this research, number of days to emergence, number of plant per square meter, number of days until flowering, number of days until maturity, plant height, first pod height, number of main branches per plant, number of lateral branches per plant, number of pod per plant, number of seed per plant, seed yield per plant, seed yield and 100 seed weight varied between respectively.Variation Coefficients based on two year average were calculated as 9.25% for plant height, 14.5% for the height of the first pod, 25.5% for the number of main branches per plant, 26.7% for the number of lateral branches per plant, 20.2% for the number of pod per plant, 19.8% for the number of seed per plant 35.1-36.5 days, 15.8-20.3 per square meter, 119-124 days, 164-178 days, 61.1-70.5 cm, 31.5-40.7 cm, 2.68-4.71 per plant, 3.19-5.97 per plant, 19.2-37.9 per plant, 18.0-31.4 per plant, 6.6-16.1 g per plant, 91-211 kg/da, 37.6-51.5 g respectively. Seed yield revealed significant and positive correlation with 100 seed weight, number of pod per plant, number of seed per plant and seed yield per plant.
