Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines seventy manuscripts preserved in the Central Library of Cukurova University within the framework of book arts. The study systematically evaluates the elements of binding, calligraphy, illumination, marbling, miniature, and katı', identifying in detail the material, technical, and stylistic characteristics of each example. Conducted through descriptive and analytical methods, the research is based on on-site examinations of the manuscripts and cross-checked with catalogue records and archival data. The findings reveal the reflections of Ottoman-Turkish book arts in the provincial context, highlighting the variety of leather and cardboard bindings, the distribution of decorative components such as şemse, salbek, köşebent, and zencirek, as well as the diversity of calligraphic styles and illumination practices. The collected data demonstrate not only the aesthetic and historical significance of the collection but also the challenges concerning its preservation. In this respect, the study contributes to the literature of art history and cultural heritage while also aiming to raise awareness regarding the documentation, restoration, and transmission of manuscripts to future generations.
