A study on natural sciences programs in Republican era

Programs of instruction is important to improve the quality of natural sciences education. Starting from this reason, a comparative consideration on Science programs in primary education in Turkey was made from the past to contemporary era. In the framework of this general aim, secondary schools programs of 1931, 1938, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1970, 1977, 2000 and 2004 were studied. This research is a descriptive study.Sources and documents used in the study were considered to be reliable. Nature of study is all the published materials about Science programs from past to contemporary times, and sample of the study is programs of 1931, 1938, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1970, 1977, 2000 and the last one.Findings of the study were summarized below. At the end of the study, except for 1938 program, it was observed that programs of 1931, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1970, 1977, 2000 and 2004 had the general aims of Science and Technology lectures. In programs, it was determined that necessary principles were not complied and content was not set out according to program evaluation principles to determine aims. Units of education situations were not included but learning-teaching methods and techniques included in education situations and equipment were partially included, and in verification situations, assessment and evaluation instrument at the end of each subject was not appeared.Keywords: Education Program, items of program, Science and Technology
