Institutional structure in Republican folklore studies: Halk Kültürü Araştırmaları Kurumu

This thesis, which examines the institutional structure, activities, importance in folklore studies, and the contributions of İrfan Ünver Nasrattınoğlu to the institution in the institutional structure of folklore studies in the Republican Period, has a purpose and nature to examine the place of the institution, which was established in the period when folklore studies in Turkey tried to gain disciplinary characteristics, in folklore studies. The aim of this study is to examine the institutional infrastructure of the Folk Culture Research Institute, which is an important center of folklore studies in the Republican Period in Turkey, its presidents, and its place among similar institutions, and to understand how these studies contribute to the preservation of Turkish cultural heritage and the formation of national identity. The study consists of five chapters. Under the title of Introduction, information on the conceptual framework, subject, purpose, scope and method of the study is given. In Chapter One, the institutions and organizations in the Republican Period, compilation and publication activities in pioneering studies, and the current activities of institutions and organizations are mentioned. In the Second Chapter, the establishment of the Folk Culture Research Institution and the people who pioneered its establishment are given in historical order, while the articles in the statute of the institution and its place in cultural diplomacy are mentioned. In the Third Chapter, the presidents of the institution, their academic life stories, and the activities of the institution during their presidencies are presented. In the Fourth Chapter, the life story of the current president, İrfan Ünver Nasrattınoğlu, along with the institution's activities during his presidency and the previous efforts, are included. Based on all the data of the research, the conclusions reached, the determinations made and the findings obtained are evaluated under the title of conclusion.
