Abstract (EN)
This study attempted to determine how the Ottoman history was included in the history textbooks of the secondary schools in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, whether a change was observed in the specified period, and the quantity and quality of the changes, if there were any.It has been observed that there was a change in the approaches to the Ottoman history in history textbooks over time. The secondary school history textbooks after 1950 provided a wider coverage of Ottoman history compared to the prewious periods, preferring a narative centered on the sultans. This thesis determined that they used very strong expressions in the evaluation of achievements and especially the processes after the 17th Century.
