Kemal Sunal in Turkish cinema in The Republican era

In this study, which contributes to the history of Turkish cinema in the Republican period, information about the processes of Turkish cinema in Turkey is given. Afterwards, the main subject of the thesis, the life of Kemal Sunal, one of the important names of comedy in Turkish cinema, his theater and cinema years, his family, personality, films and his contributions to Turkish cinema were emphasized. During the 1960 and 1980 coup processes in Turkey, the criticism of social, political, social and economic problems with the use of humorous language in his films was emphasized, and at the same time, the development of the comedy genre in Turkish and world cinema was examined in detail and explained in comparison with Turkish comedy cinema. Information was given about 82 movies in which Kemal Sunal took part and the historical details in his films. Kemal Sunal's films have gained a feature that is out of history and time by using elements of comedy and criticizing the difficult processes experienced, creating a common social psychology. In this way, he became one of the actors who produced the most films in Turkish cinema. While portraying naïve and funny types in the films he starred in, he also showed himself in roles that shed light on social events. Kemal Sunal died on July 3, 2000, as a result of a heart attack on the plane to Trabzon, where he took for the filming of the movie Balalaika.
