Sinop in Republic Era (1923-1950)

In this thesis, I tried to enlighten the history of Sinop between the years 1923-1950 when the CHP, the political structurer of the staff establishing the republic and making the revolutions, was in power. The content of the research which I considered as the subject, the history of the city, was developed in the light of the Sinop?s parameters continuing till today such as; staying out of the transportation line, being a small city, not having an industrial production and the lower socioeconomic development of the city. It is because of the fact that Sinop is far away from having urban qualities in the socioeconomic scale, many elements resulting from the dynamism of the city and cosmopolity in various areas could not be mentioned in this thesis.In the first chapter of the thesis built on the five chapters, I tried to mention the geographical features of the city and the history of the city before republic. In other three chapters I tried to convey the administrative, demographic, urban, social, cultural, economic and politic stractures of the city by the help of written sources, archive documents, Sinop Province Newspaper and Dıranaz Magazine published by Sinop Halkevi. In the fifth chapter I gave place to the prison which is the definer of the city?s historical and urban identity and other literary Works. In conclucion chapter of this study I made a general assesment. By this way I tried to depict the panoromic view of Sinop, which is small in population and acreage, isolated in terms of transportation and its geographical position as an under-developed border city, between the years 1923-1950.
