Abstract (EN)
According to Cumhuriyet Newspaper, Albania-Italy Political Relations And Regime Change in Albania (1926-1928) The Kingdom of Italy entered the First World War on the side of the Allies in order to have the colonies promised to it. However, Italy could not achieve the expected success during the war. At the same time, England did not desire a strong Italian presence in the Mediterranean. This situation prevented Italy from reaching the promised land at the end of the war. On the other hand, these developments and especially the negativities caused by the war led to significant internal instability in Italy in the post-war period. Different ideologies began to gain prevalence in the country. Especially since the ideology of "Fascism" affected large masses of people, those who adopted this ideology seized power in Italy with a coup d'etat in 1922. The biggest aim of the fascists was to reconquer the lands of Roman Empire. In order to achieve this, they followed an aggressive policy and determined the countries with a coast on the Mediterranean Sea as the expansion zone. After gaining its independence, Albania could not ensure the unity of the country for a long time, so it could not develop as much as its neighbors. Therefore, Albania was the first place Italy chose to implement its enlargement policy. Thats why, in the second half of the 1920s, many agreements, primarily political and military, were signed between Albania and Italy. Thus, while the Italian influence in Albania increased rapidly, in parallel, important political events began to take place in Albania. Under the leadership of Ahmet Zogu, first the republican regime was established in the country, but after a short time the regime changed again and Ahmet Zogu declared himself king. This study aims to examine the transition process from the "republican" regime to the "monarchy" regime in Albania and the effect of Italian influence on this process in the eyes of the newspaper Cumhuriyet. Cumhuriyet Newspaper, which closely follows the aforementioned developments in Albania, has been preferred because it enlightens the Turkish public opinion from different perspectives with the information it provides on the subject, and also reveals Turkey's view of the developments in Albania.
