Menemen Kazası in early years of Turkish Rebuplic (1923-1933)

ABSTRACTBy the progress in the local historiography which starts to have an important place intoday?s modern history sense, we have started from the point of the interest in understandingthe local areas in this thesis study called ?Cumhuriyet?in İlk Yıllarında Menemen Kazası(1923-1933)? [?Menemen Kazası in the early years of Turkish Republic (1923-1933)?] .The harmony process with the changes by the Republican Administration in every areais studied for an ilçe that has suffered the heaviest results of the Greek Invasion. In this sense,it is aimed to show the approach of the public by examining the political, administrative,economic, agricultural and social changes that were made in ilçe-wide. Particularly, thechange in the population structure of the ilçe is emphasized in this context. The importancegiven to the education by the Republican regime is tried to be determined in the ilçe scale. Itis also tried to be emphasized that how much the security problem there was in the period.Therefore, by going from pieces to the integrity, in nation-wide perspective, the perception ofthe reforms and as a result of them the new style of life by the public and the process oflearning to live with the changes are examined. The developments related to the incident inthe ilçe which was unwillingly the home of the incident are tried to be given. To sum up,following the national struggle, the panorama of an agricultural economy-based ilçe in thewestern Anatolia of the first decade of the Turkish Republic is exposed.IV
