Protective Effects of Naringin on Renal Function Tests, Electrolyte Balance and Some Hematological Parameters in Cyclophosphamide-Induced Rats Aim: Cyclophosphamide (CYP), has been known and used in the treatment of cancer for many years. However, these agents have many side effects. To minimize these side effects, flavonoid compounds are used. One of these flavonoid compounds is Naringin. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the protective effects of Naringin on hematological and biochemical parameters, which is a sign of kidney function in CYP-induced rats. Material and Methods: Forty male adult Sprague Dawley rats weighing approximately 200-250 g were used in our study. Eight rats were used in each group and 5 groups were formed. All animals were subjected to standard maintenance and feeding conditions. Group 1 received saline (1 ml) intragastric (i.g.) for 10 days. Group 2 received 10 days intragastric serum physiologic was given and intraperitoneal (i.p.) CYP (200 mg / kg) was given at the 10th day in a single dose. Groups 3 and 4 were treated for 10 days with 50 and 100 mg / kg, respectively, in saline solubilized Naringin was administered and a single dose of CYP (200 mg / kg, i.p.) was administered after 10 days of naringin injection. Group 5 received 100 mg / kg i.g. solubilized in saline only for 10 days Naringine was applied. Forty-eight hours after the CYP administration, on the 12th day of the experiment, intracardiac blood samples were taken under anesthesia with rats thiopental sodium (20 mg / kg) and sacrificed by cervical dislocation method. Blood samples from rats were stored at -80 ° C in freezer. Renal function tests and electrolyte measurements were made on a Modular PP auto-analyzer. Measurement of hematologic parameters in EDTA blood samples was done in the rat mode on the Abocus Junior Vet 5 hemogram instrument. Results: Different doses of naringin had protective effects on renal function tests, electrolyte imbalance and some haematological values in CYP-induced rats. In the CYP lip groups, Neutrophil%, monocyte% increase despite red blood cell count, white blood cell count, hemoglobin amount, hematocrit value, thrombocyte count and lymphocyte% decrease. These changes are statistically significant p <0.05 and some values are p <0.01.There was a decrease in calcium and sodium levels in the CYP group with a decrease of p <0.05 in the context of the statistical analysis but no decrease in other parameters such as phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and potassium Glucose, creatinine uric acid and lactate dehydrogenase levels in renal function tests were statistically significantly increased at p <0.05, while the increase in urea and BUN values was not significant. Conclusion: It was determined that different doses of naringin suppress nephrotoxicity and the negative effect of CYP.
