D-8 Organization For Economic Cooperation and its impacts on Turkish economy

The aim of this study is to review the development of D- 8 since its establishment, to determine whether the goals set forth in the establishment of D -8 have been fulfilled and to reflect on the impact of the D-8 Organization on Turkey and Turkish economy.To this end; the first chapter of this thesis provides general information on D-8 as well as the purpose of the study, problem situation and the model adopted in the study.The second chapter refers to the history, types and classification of the international organizations under the heading ?International Organizations on a Global Scale?.The third chapter provides detailed information about the international organizations that Turkey is a founding member of.The fourth chapter is devoted to the establishment of D-8, its areas of implementation/working fields and its organizational structure.The fifth chapter introduces the member states of the D-8 providing information on their basic economic indicators, agriculture, industry and foreign trade.The sixth chapter deals with the trade relations between Turkey and D-8 member states based in the light of statistical data.In the conclusion part; the objectives set forth since the establishment of D-8, the extent to which those objectives were reached were addressed; several recommendations for increasing the efficiency of the D-8 were submitted and inferences were made as to why Turkey should better make use of such international organizations for ensuring market diversity.Keywords: Summit, Council, Commission, Organization, Preferential Trade Agreement.
