Abstract (EN)

Since phthalocyanines, a versatileandstablegroup of compounds, wereobtainedaccidentally as a by-product, numerousphthalocyaninederivativeshavebeensynthesized. Phthalocyanines, which are shades of dark blue and dark green, are symmetrical macrorings composed of four iminoisoindoline units. The coordination number of the square-planar phthalocyanine ring is four. However, there are also phthalocyanine derivatives with different coordination numbers. It is possible to obtain phthalocyanines with different chemical properties by changing the central metal ion and peripheral substituents. This shows that new phthalocyanine syntheses are of increasing importance. In this thesisstudy, the first stage, dinitrile compound was synthesized from commercially available starting materials; 1,2:5,6-Di-O-isopropylidene-D-mannitol and 4-nitrophthalonitrile. In the second stage, new mono and ball type phthalocyanines were synthesized from the reaction of this dinitrile compound with cobalt, copper and zinc metals separately and in the last stage of the study, the structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized at each stage using spectroscopic methods (UV-Vis, 1 H-NMR, 13 C-NMR, FT-IR and MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometers).
