Abstract (EN)
In this thesis; definition of mathematical modelling has been made, exponential and logistic growth has been introduced and avascular tumour growth models with their solutions have been investigated. Moreover the importance of mathematical modelling and its relationship with the other disciplines have been mentioned. Continuous population models for single species have been investegated. In these models, obtaining the qualitative behaviour of the solution without finding the solution itself has been shown by phase-plane analysis. The corresponding analysis for the exponential and logistic growth has been made. Later a single species population model, namely the avascular tumour growth model for the homogeneous tumours has been given and then this model has been extended to include chemoterapic treatment strategies. Moreover, the model for the case of different cell types, namely heterogeneous case, has also been investigated.
