Abstract (EN)

New ideas and new systems arise from the blending and collision of ideas and systems introduced in the past. Our study is especially important in terms of showing that there are philosophy courses taught in Darulfünun, which has an important place in Ottoman modernization, and that there are professors who teach these courses. In addition to this, In general, it has been studied considering the subject of being influenced, supported by Western philosophical movements and philosophers, and their works translated and used as textbooks. Our thesis also deals with the way in which the ideas of the Ottoman intellectuals were shaped and how the intellectual structure of the society of that day developed. In the first part of our study; Attempts to establish a Darulfünun that emerged with the aim of modernization, what stages this established Darulfünun went through, its curriculum and which scholars taught these courses were mentioned. In the second part, information about the lives and works of names such as Ahmet Mithat Efendi, Emrullah Efendi, Şehbenderzâde Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi, Babanzâde Ahmed Naim, Mehmed Ali Aynî, İsmail Hakkı İzmirli, Salih Zeki, Rıza Tevfik and Ziya Gökalp, who taught philosophy at Darulfünun, was given first afterwards, their philosophical views were revealed by examining the works on philosophy, lecture notes and articles they wrote.
