Resarch of the historical environment of Reşadiye mahallesi in Datça

This study is about Reşadiye Mahallesi, which is one of the three settlements of Datça town of Muğla, on the southern tip of the Aegean Sea. The aim of the study is to survey the site and prepare guidelines to preserve the traditional characteristics of the texture. It is mostly concentrated on the traditional houses because of its dense population in the environment. The study includes six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which describes the methodology of the study. General characteristics of the Datça peninsula are defined in the second chapter. The settlement is analysed with its social and environmental characteristics in the third chapter. In the fourth chapter, a methodology to analyse the traditional houses of the study site is proposed and the tipology of the houses is constructed through this methodology. The fifth chapter describes the architectural elements and constructional details of the traditional houses. Finally, the sixth chapter presents the planning studies of the related boards for the site. The author's proposal for preservation of the environment and restoration of the traditional houses are also included in this chapter. The traditional houses which are surveyed in the site are documented in the last part ot the study.
