Abstract (EN)

Keywords: Manufacturing defects, Project defects, DBYBHY 2007, TS 500, TBDY 2018, Sakarya Turkey is located in the Alpine-Himalayan Seismic Belt which is one of the most geologically active earthquakes have occurred in various regions of our country from to past to present, and thousands of people have lost their lives and financcial loses have occurred in the earthquakes. For his reason, buildings in our country should be designed carrefully and earthauake-resistant structures should be established for The future. From past the present earthquake regulations have been published in order to create earthauake-resistant structures, in 2007 DBYBHY 2007 and finally in 2018 TBDY 2018 came into force. The purpose of this study is to determine whether past defects were made in buildings built after the earthquake in Sakarya, one of the cities most affected by the Gölcük and Düzce earthquakes that occurred in 1999. Accordingly, Project and manufacturing defects of 40 randomly selected buildings, which were licansed in 2016 in Sakarya, are determined and the rates of defects made againts each regulation item are determined by filling them in prepared forms. The study consists of 5 sections. In the first section; the purpose and scope of the study are examined and the results of similar studies are stated. In the second section; Turkey in general and Sakarya seismicity are examined, Turkey earthquake map updated in 2018 is compared with Turkey earthquake map published in 1996 by the earthquake, big earthquakes experienced from past to present and loss of life and property in these earthquakes are indicated. In the third section; the usability of hollow floored structures in earthquake zones according to regulations is examined, the weaknesses of these systems are explained whit an example of a building. In the fourth section; the boundary conditions in the regulations are stated and the error rates obtained from the buildig forms for each article are indicated. In the fifth section; the result are recommendations are indicated, the result are compared with the results of similar studies and the avarage rates of defects made in Turkey are determined. As a result, although there are positive developments in the project defects of the building built after the bip earthquakes in Sakarya, in practice, the rate of manifacturing contrary to regulations is quike high. This shows us that the importance of earthquakes has been forgotten in Sakarya and that earthquake-resistant buildings are limited in number.
