Abstract (EN)
In this study, dexamethasone, an eicosanoid inhibitor, was used to investigate differences in the activities of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase) in the fat and midgut tissues of late-stage Galleria mellonella larvae. SOD enzyme activity increased significantly in fat and midgut tissues of Galleria mellonella larvae in all treatment groups (1, 3 and 5 ppm) compared to control. In all treatment groups, CAT enzyme activity decreased in fat tissue, but increased in midgut tissue. There was a decrease in GPx enzyme activity in adipose tissue in the 3 and 5 ppm treatment groups in comparison with the control. Whereas GPx enzyme activity in midgut tissue decreased in the 1 ppm group, it increased in the 3 and 5 ppm groups. Based on the data obtained, dexamethasone induced oxidative stress in fat and midgut tissues of larvae.
