Abstract (EN)
The study discusses Delacroix and the notions of art and social reality in his time, on the basis of his work ?Liberty Leading the People?. The political revolution which developed between the end of the Empire and 1848, is also a revolution which affected the feelings and thoughts of all Europe ansprofoundly. The fervency of the French Revolution has specifically influenced art and the artists. Gradually, art has become a power for the expression of society and individuals. Thus, Romanticism emerges, deifying the free soul, nourished by subjective creations of art. When Romanticism is pronounced, Delacroix is the first name that comes to mind in France. He was deeply moved by the French and 1830 July Revolutions. In his frail form, rather than retiring into his own shell, through his works of art, he proved his existence with in the society in the heat of the moment. The major proof of this is the painting ?Liberty Leading the People?. In this painting, he lives the revolution over, presenting it with all his sensitivity and lyric brush strokes. His figures show how much he internalized that process.
