Özet (EN)
The fact that the Aegean Region is a unique semi-enclosed sea area distinguishes it from other seas worldwide. Just as it is considered geographically unique when delimiting a sea area such as the Aegean Sea, its delimitation must be special. The demands and opinions of the parties on the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas in the Aegean Sea show serious differences. Changing attitudes and views with each government change made it difficult to determine the maritime jurisdiction areas between the two countries. Although Greece sees the only problem in the Aegean Sea as the continental shelf, there is much more to be discussed than Türkiye. In this respect, it seems complicated for Türkiye and Greece to reach a final delimitation agreement. Joint Development Agreements are an alternative way to be resorted to when one or more states have overlapping claims in a region that cannot be resolved. Until the states make a final agreement, minimizing the conflict in the region, exploring and exploiting the resources in the region, ensuring security, and finally providing the protection of the environment in the region are among the main goals. This thesis has tried to reveal which stages Türkiye and Greece should follow to make a potential joint development/management agreement in the Aegean Sea. What should be included in a potential joint development agreement has been examined separately, and the positive and negative obligations imposed on Türkiye and Greece, if they intend to make a potential joint development agreement have been explained. By determining the disputed sea areas, the most suitable regions for joint development agreements were tried to be determined by considering the potential resources in these areas. In order to understand better to these regions, some maps were prepared, where the parties were in dispute and could be jointly developed or managed were specified.
