Abstract (EN)

In this study, iron (Fe) and terbium (Tb) doped hydroxyapatite (HAp) structures were investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Density functional theory (DFT) was used in theoretical calculations. It was observed that Fe- and Tb-doping had an effect on the band gap of the HAp. It was found that as the amount of the dopant increased, the band gap decreased and the sample density increased. It was concluded that the investigated systems can be used in radiation shielding applications. Raman and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analyses and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements confirmed the formation of the HAp phase for each sample. The crystallization of doped materials was found to be lower compared to the un-doped sample. It was observed that the morphology was affected by the dopant amount. It was observed that all samples had a thermally stable structure.
