Structure and theme in Demirtaş Ceyhun's stories and novels

Demirtaş Ceyhun is known in republic period of Turkish literature by his works of novel, story, juvenile books, essays, reviews, travel writings, and memories. He has started his literature life by writing stories and his first stories are published at different journals in 1955. He also has some articles on journals such as Yeni Ufuklar, Mavi, Pazar Postası and newpapers such as Günlük, Milliyet, Cumhuriyet and Politika. His first story book "Tanrıgillerden Biri" presented to readers in 1961. The author was awarded the Sait Faik Story Prize in 1973 by his story named "Çamasan". He received TDK reward in 1975 by his story named "Apartman". His novels published in 1970. His first novel, "Asya", is published in 1970 and it was awarded by TRT Roman Prize. Demirtaş Ceyhun has three novels and six stories. The author did not write any novel and story after publishing his story book of "Ayı İzi (Eylül Öyküleri)" in 1987. His fisrt period of literary work is mainly based on individual topics like a person's inner world and anxiety inside society. He intensively examined anxiety, unrest, escape, and sexual problems by starting from individuas of his story book "Tanrıgillerden Biri". After, he treats society topics as theme. In his novels and stories, he treats loneliness of Anatolian people, poverty, desperation, problems of feudality and some sort of dispari-ties. He focused problems of migration from the village to town, urbanization, anxiety of urban people, human rights, struggle of living, culturel and economic structure. He reflects his problems from real life to his novels and stories. The author discusses human problems in his works and reveals them on a realistic and questioning line. In our study, Demirtaş Ceyhun's stories and novels will be examined in the context of story and novel technique and theme, and analysis will be made regarding the story and novel world of the author. As a result of these works, the stories and novels of the aut-hor will be examined with elements such as structural technique and theme.
