Abstract (EN)

After the Second World War, the existence of a single party in Turkey was seen as the biggest obstacle to Turkey's integration with the free world, and with the elections held in a democratic environment in 1950, the CHP left its 27 year rule to the DP. However, the government, which thought that the popular support was lost before the 1957 elections, started a policy of confrontation and tried to prevent the opposition from collaborating. Prime Minister Menderes, with his speech in Manisa on October 12, 1958, invited the people to gather around the Homeland Front against the "front of hatred and hostility", which he claimed to be formed by the opposition. As in the whole country, many participations in the Homeland Front had been made in Bursa since 1958. The people who participated were telling at length why they joined this front through telegrams they sent to the Prime Minister in person. In addition, Hâkimiyet newspaper, whichwas known for its pro-government publications in Bursa, gave the participants of the Homeland Front almost every day on the first page with the headline "Joinments to the Homeland Front", while Yeni Ant newspaper stated that these news were not true. In an environment where the government defined the opposition as traitors, it was no longer possible to talk about democracy. In the Yassıada trials after May 27, the Homeland Front was among the reasons for the most of the accusations and Adnan Menderes said that he used the Vatan Front as a propaganda tool. According to court records, 973.170 people were registered in this front and a large amount of appropriation was taken from the disguised appropriation. In this study, T.C. Presidency State Archives, newspapers about the period published in Bursa and documents obtained from various individuals were used as the main source. These main sources are supported by research works. In the first part of the study, the establishment of for the ruling the DP and its coming to power, secondly the establishment of the Homeland Front, and lastly the activities of the Homeland Front in Bursa will be discussed and Bursa's support party will try to be revealed.
