Abstract (EN)

Democrat Party, which assumed the role of opposition party in the first stage of Turkish political life, where the single-party period was effective for a long time, was one of the important turning points of the transition to multi-party political life. Shortly after its founding, the Democratic Party succeeded in gaining public support and came to power with the May 4, 1950 general elections and played an active role in politics for ten years not trust the Democratic Party has changed the military bureaucracy, brought a variety of applications in religious matters, Korean soldier has decided to issue and Turkey has taken many political decisions such as NATO membership. After 1954, in parallel with the increase in the problems in the economy, fervent years began in politics. In particular, the events of September 6/7, interventions to control the press and opposition, the establishment of the front of the homeland and the investigation commission, such as the formation of political language has hardened the language of society and has caused unrest in society. Undoubtedly, the most important factor affecting the political decisions of the Democratic Party was economic indicators. Therefore, in the last part of the study, during the ten-year term of the Democratic Party, the successes of economic development moves are examined. When the Democratic Party was in opposition, he criticized the intervention of the single party power on the market and advocated the validity of the principles of liberal order in the economy. After coming to power, it was seen that it continued this understanding especially in its early years, but the inability to sustain the successes in the economy caused the economic understanding to be changed and the state began to make itself felt in the markets. In this period, agricultural development was the basis of economic development and radical changes were experienced in agriculture. With the majority of Marshall aid invested in agricultural activities, the primitive methods used in agriculture have been replaced by machinery and technology. The introduction of tractors into the fields, implementation of policies supporting farmers, cooperatives, tax reform and ease of credit have been indicators of agricultural transformation. In this thesis, information about the activities of the Democratic Party, which came to power on May 14, 1950, in Turkish political history, was given and how the Democratic Party created a change and transformation in economic life, especially in agriculture.
