Abstract (EN)

Powerful states of the past and present pay special importance to agriculture. Agriculture forms a basis for the economy and country, since it comes first in production of a country. Even if the most advanced methods are used in agriculture, it is still subject to natural conditions. Turkey is a country having a diversity with its land forms, climate, soil and vegetation. As a result of the interconnection among these physical conditions, most of the agricultural products are produced with high quality in Turkey. A policy emphasising all the points in association with agriculture and removing the obstacles is of vital importance for the agricultural future of Turkey. This policy turns Turkey into an agricultural country growing abundant, qualified and cheap crops competing with the world. Agricultural policies and practices of Democratic Party between 1950 and 1960 brought about major developments in Turkey. The improvements in production and mechanization in agriculture are the general characteristics of that period. Key Words: Agriculture, Demokratic party, Policy.
